Taras Bulba

"Fatherland is something that soul is looking for, that dearer to her entire.."

Taras Bulba (alternative title Zaporizhian Sich) is a historical drama film, based on the novel of the same title by Nikolai Gogol. The movie has been filmed in different locations in Ukraine such as Zaporizhia, Khotyn and Kamianets-Podilskyi as well as in Poland. The release date is the April 2, 2009, to coinciding with Gogol’s bicentennial.

This is the most interesting feature film project in which I have taken part.

As far back as i was a pupil in the Theoretic Lyceum i carefully studied the literary works of Gogol. In those days, he impressed me a kind of mysticism and vividness of images.
Taras Bulba — one of the greatest novel -- is a story about Ukraine's Cossack warriors and their campaign to --defend their lands from the advancing Polish armies.

Here i present a few shots i worked on. My duties included adding the people on the background, adding the blood in fight scenes, some clean up works and other...
